Just Pancakes, A Comedy About Senile Wizards

Pancakes anyone?! Inside the perfectly done stack of pancakes on the thumbnail is the key element to a divine comic. If Regular show is anything but regular, HadeToons' Just Pancakes is everything but pancakes.

Just Pancakes takes place in a fantasy setting diner called The Dirty Cauldron. nearly every chapter starts with a sign leading to the diner. Wetzel is the owner and head chef of the diner. he has two younger brothers: a cautious and stern brother named Shelby, and Ebus, a brother they both love, however thinks he's still ten years old when he is in his early thousands.

All three of these men resemble the image of the wise old wizards in fantasy books. Don't let this fool you, with as much experience they have in food magic, (foogic) they can barely make the payments on their deceased mother's diner.

Wetzel tries to increase his expertise in foogic for the main reason of connecting and trying to surpass his mom, the greatest foogic sorcerer. He constantly feels that even with his knowledge, he can never hold a candle to his mother's recipes. He constantly tries to keep secret any recipe he creates to give himself an advantage, and most of his recipes force him to steal, plunder, or kill mythological beasts to make the best ingredients. He also runs a cooking segment where he shows how to summon those beasts for the meal.

Shelby, is a foil for Wetzel's deeds, as he tries to explain to a heartless man striving to be the best cook is a recipe for disaster. His elemental dysfunction causes him to leave magic and pursue paying every bill that Wetzel can barely handle. Wetzel never thanks Shelby for paying the bills and considers everything he says as a nuisance to Wetzel's hard work. All the while helping Wetzel get Ebus out of any clogs or messes Ebus caused.

He's always considered the least successful of the two and wishes to be his own person.

Somewhere in Wetzel's so-called "busy schedule," Wetzel still finds time to train his apprentice Toby. Toby is the silent assistant apprentice garden gnome that the brothers understand without him ever saying a word. He watches the front, cooks when Wetzel isn't around and follows Wetzel throughout most of his schemes. If Wetzel deems a part of the adventure is too hard for the little guy, Wetzel always finds a way to get Toby out of danger. Toby can conjure food like Wetzel, and Wetzel considers him more than ready to be a foogician chef but doesn't want to lose the helpful friend he trained.

Wetzel's life gets even more chaotic when you add their Uncle Uriel, and his worst enemy, Grace Von Cuisine, the Fusionist. Uncle Uriel constantly goes on adventures and even asks if the boys want to come along for the ride. He's even more of a criminal than Wetzel and reincarnates multiple times as different colored robes like an onion with many layers. He constantly enjoys life doing whatever he wants and never taking the fall for it, He's a contrast against Wetzel and Shelby who have goals and are tied down to the past.

Grace Von Cuisine, is a foogician's worst enemy. While foogicians conjure up food,

Grace adds an extra step and mixes different food styles to make a combined version of ramen burgers, spaghetti doughnuts, and even chicken waffle drumsticks, true blasphemy to Wetzel the purest, and all foodgician kind as they are just cheap imitations of delicious food. She uses what was already there, without expanding on the flavors like other foogicians. She's a brutal wizard who looks down at The Dirty Cauldron, and other weaker chefs by traveling in a food truck challenging them to duels and trampling their diners when she wins. She's a constant sour lemon who can never best Wetzel, but searches for any advantage to sully The Great Wetzel's name.

To end the season, Grace Von Cuisine calls the Debt Mentors to suck the brothers' souls dry if they don't pay up for every sleazy thing Wetzel has caused to the amount of fifty thousand gold in twenty-four hours. Ebus tells the others to delve deeper into The Dirty Cauldron to search for money. Shelby and Ebus don't tell Wetzel that the money behind the door was meant for Wetzel to start a new life, He only needs to accept the role of the Grand Gourmet and be their mom's successor. Wetzel's refusal causes the brothers to bicker again bringing out the wrath of Meatius Tendithor, a fairy who protects the title from those unworthy. Ebus takes the challenge to save The Dirty Cauldron. He must eat Meatius and survive. Ebus takes one bite and is sent to the Flavor Realm, and vanishes from reality. Angered from losing his brother, and needing to save The Dirty Cauldron, Wetzel accepts the title of the Grand Gourmet. It's a small step towards accepting their mom is gone, but at what cost?

Just Pancakes is a wild stack of humor, but in its syrupy center is a story about two brothers trying to accept the fact that they have to be the successors to their Mom's legacy and traverse the lives they created.
