Yankifull's Once a hero is one of the new series that came out for Monday's launch week. it seems to be about reincarnated heroes and villains. From the comments, webtoon messed up what chapter went in each slot, but because I was late I got the updated version so that there weren't any problems.
While Ja-in, a freshman of Cheongcheon University in poverty and living with his father gets kidnapped for ransom possibly because he looked too pretty to be in poverty, a bystander notices him. A boy with dark black hair, and blue eyes just happens to pass by, and see the kidnapping.
The boy then keeps stepping forward towards the fully grown kidnappers while coincidences keep constantly happening around this mysterious figure:
a rebar from the building happens to block a punch for him, The wind suddenly blows a leaf next to a fire causing the kidnappers to go into a panic. This very wind then knocks over a gasoline canister adding more fuel to the fire. What more can happen?
A random passerby notices the fire and calls the fire department, and everyone is saved. Ja-in walks up to his protector that night and wonders if he was, "A hero in a previous life or something?" The boy replied "That's right. In my previous life... I rescued a nation from destruction." This superises Ja-in, and forces him to investigate the boy further.
For the next two weeks, Ja-in becomes the boy's stalker. Ja-in realizes coincidences happen all the time starting from free sample day, to being the 50,000th visitor, and winning a car, when he doesn't even own a license yet. He would probably pass, and have a perfect driving record for the rest of his life. The boy named Unjo calls his friends to follow Ja-in when he goes home calling Ja-in "the boy who can see".
The next day Ja-in gets lost and doesn't know how to ask for directions. A random passerby that looks shady tells him what direction to go to his University, but tells him if he rambles for too long asking for directions people think he's a con man. He also told Ja-in to head straight home after school. What the man doesn't tell him is that he's conning Ja-in into a residential area. I think the longer you're exposed to Unjo, the more of your luck gets sucked up.
Ja-in gets thirsty while being lost, and tries to buy a soda at the vending machines. His quarter just happens to fall out of his hand and roll into some delinquents. They start grabbing him, until Unjo jumps into the group while grabbing a kite from a tree above them. The kid and the mom who asked for him to grab the kite start yelling at the delinquents that they'll call their parents if they don't let Ja-in and Unjo go.
Unjo helps Ja-in reach the university, and introduces him to one of his friends named Dana. Dana is like a stalker's stalker, and did a background check on Ja-in before meeting him. She explains that Unjo and her were previously heros in a previous life, and Ja-in could possibly be one as well since he can see Unjo's blessings of luck. Ja-in might've just forgotten, or he might've been a villain. Dana believes that Ja-in may have a part in a battle whether he likes it or not.
The words of the con man echoed in Ja-in's head and he headed straight home after school to hear his dad on the phone, and then a loud crash. I don't know if the dad will be hospitalized or if he died yet, but this looks like an interesting series to keep reading. I hope to look more into this series.

Sounds like there is a lot of mystery surrounding this story; were you saying that Unjo was siphoning off Ja-in the victim of the kidnapping luck or the guy who gave Ja-in the directions that led him to the wrong area? Thank-you again for a fun read.😀
